This “Humans of New York” story stayed with me more than any other

If you follow Humans of New York, you know that Brandon, the creator and photographer, has been profiling refugees. I read every HONY story, but one from the other day really stuck with me. I wanted to share it here in one place since it was actually seven different posts.

I can’t help but feel like it’s the opposite of Alzheimer’s: his brain, his mind, his thoughts are 100% there but there is no one who will listen. He’s clearly a brilliant, motivated man who wants to live a better life, for himself and his children (who remain).

This is not a political statement. This is a humanitarian statement. “I don’t want the world to think I’m over. I’m still here.”
