It’s been a crazy week and a half !
The first weekend of June, Steve and I decided to take his cousins, ages 3 and 4, to The Maryland Zoo. I LOVE the zoo and couldn’t wait to share the animals with them. I picked them up on Friday and we had a fun night, complete with snowballs.
Saturday was zoo day! We tossed the little one in her stroller and let the big guy walk. He loved the tram that takes you to the zoo … and the big truck by the polar bears … and the tree slide. The animals? Eh. The three-year-old asked at each animals, “What’s the next animal?” I gave them a lecture on living in the present.
After that, I hurriedly packed for a work trip to New York City. Each year, we choose weight-loss success stories and provide makeovers, shopping, and a photo/video shoot. It’s a long, exhausting four days, but nothing beats the city as an office.
We had an amazing group of success stories, gorgeous weather, and worked with the most awesome vendors. I definitely didn’t want to leave.
Don’t worry—we had time for a little fun, too. We hit up karaoke, saw a band at The Bitter End, and learned that Strawberry Fields is not, in fact, fields.
I got back to Penn Station at 2:30pm on Friday, showered, and went straight to the wedding rehearsal for two of our closest friends, Paul and Brianna. Steve was Paul’s best man and Katharine and I served as coordinators. (We were nicknamed The General and The Lieutenant.) We set up starting at 8am on Saturday and tore down at 8pm—and then started the after-party. Needless to say, I took a pretty epic nap on Sunday. Plus, I’m fairly certain that I’ve found a new calling as a coordinator.
I’m still recovering but have made some amazing memories these last two weeks. The next few weeks include house hunting(!!), vacation to OBX, and a work trip to Nashville. Maybe I’ll leave August blank on the calendar …
